MATERIALS TESTING
FME’s Columbia office houses our materials testing laboratory, which is inspected and accredited by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Our laboratory is fully equipped and accredited to perform a variety of tests on aggregate, asphalt, concrete, metal, and soil materials for engineering and construction purposes. Our laboratory participates in the AASHTO re:source and Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) proficiency sample programs. These programs were developed as a means for laboratories to evaluate the quality of their testing, thereby assuring accurate and reliable results. In addition, all laboratory equipment undergoes routine internal calibration and all load-testing equipment is calibrated by an external service on an annual basis.
FME’s laboratory technicians are trained to perform tests in accordance with standard procedures and maintain various materials testing certifications. Overseeing the technicians is a staff of professional engineers and geologists with vast experience and understanding of local materials and construction practices.
