WOMEN'S QUADRANGLE RENOVATIONS
Columbia, South Carolina
FME completed an asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint assessment of McClintock, Sims, and Wade Hampton Residence Halls in the Women’s Quadrangle. The goal of the assessment was to provide the University of South Carolina and project architectural team with specific guidance regarding how the proposed interior renovations would be affected by existing hazardous materials in these historic, multi-story buildings. FME’s four-day field assessment was performed on an accelerated schedule during the winter break to limit disruption and inconvenience to the 600 residents.
Following, FME performed complete asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint investigations throughout the interior and exterior of the three residence halls. In addition, FME prepared abatement design plans and specifications for the remediation of asbestos prior to the renovations of each of the building structures.
