US 17 ACE BASIN PARKWAY, SEGMENT 2
Colleton County, South Carolina
SCDOT’s ACE Basin Parkway, Segment 2 project improved US 17 for approximately 14 miles in Colleton County between Lightsey Plantation and SC 64 in Jacksonboro. This segment was widened into a four-lane roadway with a divided median. This section included the replacement of two existing bridges, a new bridge, relocation of an intersection, and reconfiguration and signalization at another intersection.
Working for the SCDOT’s quality assurance consultant, FME performed geotechnical design review of the project’s subsurface investigations, bridge foundation designs, embankment designs, MSE wall designs, causeway designs, and settlement data. FME also performed quality assurance inspection and testing of structural foundations, concrete structures, asphalt plant, and earthwork. Testing of roadway and bridge materials was conducted in FME’s AASHTO-accredited laboratory.
