TAYLOR HOUSE AND HORRY-GUIGNARD HOUSE RENOVATIONS
Columbia, South Carolina
FME performed hazardous materials services for the exterior renovations to the University of South Carolina’s Taylor House, Horry-Guignard House, and Horry-Guignard dependency. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, all three buildings were renovated to stabilize and beautify the exterior of the structures in anticipation of the opening of the new School of Law. The renovations included various repairs to the exterior of the structures, restoration of the original windows and doors, and replacement of the existing roof systems for all three structures.
Prior to the commencement of renovation activities, FME prepared abatement project design plans and specifications for the removal of asbestos-containing materials and building components coated with lead-based paint. FME’s design was developed in coordination with the project architect and University’s Facilities and HAZMAT personnel. In addition, during abatement operations, FME provided project management and oversight.
