SC 802 BRIDGE OVER BEAUFORT RIVER
Beaufort County, South Carolina
The $34.5 million SC 802 bridge project included the construction of a new bridge over the Beaufort River (Intracoastal Waterway), parallel to the existing J.E. McTeer Bridge. The new 4,211-foot long bridge extends over the Beaufort River and tidal marshes. The structure carries two eastbound lanes of traffic onto Lady’s Island from Port Royal and has a dedicated access for pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
FME was hired by Beaufort County to provide construction management, inspection, and testing services for the project. FME also provided environmental compliance inspections and assisted with the environmental permit closeout. The project was built and inspected in accordance with SCDOT requirements and was ultimately turned over to SCDOT.
