LIBERTY DENIM YARN AND WEAVE MILLS

Liberty, South Carolina

FME completed asbestos-containing materials investigations at the former Liberty Denim Yarn and Weave Mills, which had operations dating back to the early 1900s. FME’s investigations were performed in anticipation of the complete demolition of the building structures associated with the mills, and were conducted in accordance with SCDHEC, EPA, and OSHA regulations.

FME’s investigations consisted of locating, sampling, and recording the physical characteristics of suspect asbestos-containing materials associated with the interior and exterior portions of the building structures. Additionally, FME provided estimated quantities of those materials and obtained laboratory analytical results for determining the existence or non-existence of asbestos fibers.

Subsequently, FME prepared abatement design plans and specifications for the removal of multiple asbestos-containing materials identified throughout both mills.
