HAMILTON COLLEGE RENOVATIONS
Columbia, South Carolina
FME completed asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint investigations for the University of South Carolina’s Hamilton College, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The investigations were performed in preparation of renovations to the existing structure, to include an interior gut and full restoration.
With the presence of asbestos and lead identified during the investigations, FME developed abatement design plans and specifications for the removal of asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint in the building structure. During abatement activities, FME provided project management and area air monitoring services. This included reviewing documents submitted by the contractor to assure compliance with the abatement design documents, being onsite to monitor and approve all abatement work, attending weekly abatement meetings, and performing visual inspections and clearance activities following the abatement of each work area.
