COMMUNITY PARK OF IRMO

FME provided geotechnical services for the new Community Park of Irmo, home of the Okra Strut Festival. The $1.8 million, 14-acre park includes a 400-person amphitheater, two picnic shelters, restrooms, two playgrounds, an asphalt walking trail, pond, and parking lots.
FME performed a subsurface exploration for the amphitheater and stage, picnic shelters, restrooms, two pedestrian bridges, vehicular bridge (precast box culvert), pond, roadway, and parking. After analyzing the field and laboratory data, FME developed recommendations for site preparation, foundation systems, and pavement design.
